------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not far from Gdansk there is a park called Oliwa, to get there is not so complicated, even if at first it will be difficult to understand which tram to take; do not try to ask for information around, everyone will tell you something different, although everyone knows where it is, obviously it is a place that is beyond time and space, and in fact the sesation is that ...
First of all, then find out which vehicle to take, I recommend the train, very comfortable, nice ride, take it directly from Gdańsk Główny central station, a few steps from the Gdańsk Old Town, SKM line, direction Gdańsk Oliwa, and after sun two stops you will find yourself catapulted into a very different place from the center of Gdansk, otherwise the tram at the exit from the old town of Gdansk, direction Oliwa, stop "Oliwa" precisely.
The park is immense, considered to be there at least one day, a couple of hours you will go away just to admire the squirrels with a thick red tail that will eat peanuts directly from your hands, in reality there is not much to do but walk, feed the ducks and relax, but if you love nature, you will love this place!
Forget the holiday with hectic schedules made of guided tours, public transport to chase and watches to watch compulsively, here you relax, Oliwa Park is for those who love relaxation, clean air, walks in the woods and the singing of birds, so forget the clock at the hotel, leave the map in your backpack and step into the park's alleyways, without thinking about anything but the peace that surrounds you.
In every season the landscape of the park changes, in winter it is snow-covered and full of colored lights, in autumn the avenues are covered with red leaves like the sunset, in spring the meadows are covered with flowers and in summer it turns into a green paradise, so I leave you the hard choice of when to go.
At the center of the park is the Cathedral of Oliwa, an imposing building in which you will find one of the largest organs in Europe, it took 25 years to realize it, its construction began in 1763, obviously it is a mammoth work In its genre, eight thousand wooden reeds reproduce sounds reminiscent of birdsong, the whistling of the wind, the sound of bells or the sound of rain, and on top are statues of finely carved wooden angels that move when the organ is played, but be careful, the lord guarding the church speaks only Polish, and will try to make you understand, with poor results, that during the mass you can not take pictures!
My advice?

Before going look for the hours of religious services, to feel its wonderful melody, the show is worth the visit, and if you want to photograph or resume the famous organ go during one of the many concerts that take place almost daily, then you will fully enjoy of the capabilities of this instrument that will leave you breathless, we were lucky and we attended a small concert, which in the summer are usually held before lunch, it was really magnificent.
Inside the park, between streams and streams, between duck and mallards, you will also find a small Japanese garden, well cared for with lots of flowers, but if you love the squirrels go into the heart of the park, among the old trees, look for the hazelnuts and you will find these cute little animals, they are not at all difficult to find, the park is full of them.
In the eastern part of the park you will find many small houses, even a school and a contemporary art gallery, continuing then you will find the end of the park and the beginning of a crowded cemetery, it is worth a visit if you are lovers of history and cemeteries.
Now I will tell you something you will not find on the guides: almost every day, at the entrance opposite to the main one, you will find a lady, who will sell you cold tea with elder or mint flowers, slices of bread with cream of lard and gherkins, homemade sandwiches and cakes with cream and cheese, they cost very little change and its cakes are the best you can find in the whole area, obviously prepares them herself every morning before going to the park, the old lady can be found only during spring and summer, but only speaks Polish, but you will be able to make you understand quietly.
At Christmas the park is filled with light and the atmosphere becomes very suggestive, between snowy hills and frozen lakes, the temperature usually does not reach more than 3 degrees below zero, but towards evening it will seem much colder, so cover yourself well.
